"CREATING MY OWN WINE HAS BEEN A DREAM COME TRUE SINCE 2004..."

RIBATEJO - TRIBUTO

TRIBUTO, Almeirim, Portugal

A sentimental project planted in 1 hectare given to me by my father, to "experiment"
First harvest in 2004

This is a small personal project, of only 2,000 bottles. The wine I idealized to make to show a “different path” for Ribatejo’s red wines: complex, fresh, soft and elegant. It started in 2001, with the planting of vines in Charneca de Almeirim, in very poor and pebbly soils. With grape varieties inspired by Cotes de Rhone - Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Viognier - low technology and "premium" French oak barrels. Throughout the process of soil selection, preparation and vine planting, my father, a lifetime winemaker, played a key role. Unfortunately he would not live long enough to see this dream come through. So this wine got a different meaning. And his name: Tributo (tribute).

RIBATEJO - QTA VALE VEADOS

ALENTEJO - TERRENUS

TERRENUS, Portalegre, Portugal

Homage to old vines and Serra de S. Mamede’s "terroir"

Since the beginning of my career as an oenologist, I'm involved in Portalegre region. A passion, not only for the wines, but also for the region itself has always attracted me - my first harvest was made in Tapada do Chaves in 1991. Terrenus is produced here, from old vines with very low production strains located in the Serra de São Mamede, from local wine varieties, totaling 18 varieties. The expression of a special and different Alentejo "terroir ", producing distinctive wines with a sleeker, fresher, more balanced profile.

DOURO - TERRASSUS

TERRASSUS, Douro, Portugal

I confess that I always had the professional dream and ambition make "my" Douro wine one day. In 2009 vintage, with the help of my colleagues, I found the vineyard and the cellar where this dream was possible. The grapes for the final blend were clear to me from the beginning: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. It was followed by the vintages of 2010, 2012 and 2013.

FABRE MONTMAYOU, Vistalba, Argentina

To unlock the full potential of Malbec grape variety

In the old vines of Vistalba, in Argentina near the Andes, at 1000 meters altitude, we selected the best Malbec grapes to produce this wine, that shows the great potential of this variety and this country I fell in love with. After years of working with this producer I have decided to challenge Oenologist Hervé Fabre to do a wine together. After finding a Touriga Nacional vine in Uco Valley’s terroir, we have decided to start the project and prepare a batch of two great varieties: Malbec & Touriga Nacional.

AUSTRIA - WENZEL

WENZEL BEERENAUSLESE, Rust, Austria

My first Late Harvest, made in a partnership with Wenzel’s family, was born in the 2006 vintage. After several visits and years of friendship with Michael Wenzel, we decided to draw up a Late Harvest taking advantage of the exceptional microclimate of the place where his family owns vineyards for over 200 years.
Austria along lake "Neusiedlersee", in Rust, was the chosen place to develop this wine, with grapes totally attacked by "Botrytis cinerea" and for the final the batch Welscriesling, Riesling and Muscat grapes were elected.

PRIMEIRA PAIXÃO VERDELHO, Madeira

Verdelho grape variety has always made me very curious about its enological potential.
In 2008 harvest I challenged my friend and colleague Francisco Albuquerque for the project of preparing a varietal wine from Madeira’s Verdelho variety.
